Accessibility

In short

We want everyone to be able to use the Maitre widget and our website, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader or larger text. Our goal is the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. We test for it, we know some gaps remain, and we fix them as we find them. Tell us at team@hiremaitre.com if something gets in your way.

1. Our goal

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA for the widget, hiremaitre.com and our legal pages. We do not claim certified conformance.

2. What we test

  • Our legal pages are checked with the axe-core accessibility tool against WCAG 2.2 AA rules, at desktop and phone sizes, and are plain, printable HTML with one heading structure.
  • On phones, the pop-up greeting's buttons answer a tap of at least 44 pixels, and the guest notice text meets 4.5 to 1 contrast.
  • The widget's launcher and controls are real buttons with names a screen reader can read.

3. Known gaps

  • Some small grey text in the widget's default footer is fainter than 4.5 to 1 on restaurants that have not switched on the newer notice.
  • Dish photos come from restaurants and may not all have descriptive text.
  • The voice call works best for guests who can speak; guests can always type instead.

4. Getting help or another format

If anything is hard to use, or you need one of our documents in another format, email team@hiremaitre.com and we will help. Restaurants are responsible for the accessibility of their own websites; the widget is one part of those sites.
